Introduction
Founded in 1957 by local wildfowlers to protect their interests on the east coast, The Leicestershire Wildfowlers’ Association has expanded to include many other activities both in the shooting and conservation field.
The Association has sections concerned with pigeon control, ferreting, junior and educational activities, dog training, wildfowling and conservation, fishing and also attends local shows to promote the sport of shooting to the general public.
On the conservation front the club has reared and released on to its sanctuary waters the massive total of thirty-eight thousand duck.
It is a fundamental aim of The Leicestershire Wildfowlers’ Association to demonstrate, in a practical way, that shooting and conservation go hand in hand and to pass on the skills, discipline and concern for all forms of wildlife to the younger members of the Association.
The membership includes people of all ages and from every walk of life.
The Leicestershire Wildfowlers’ Association is fortunate in not only having its own area of wetland on the Ouse Washes but also has an excellent ongoing relationship with coastal wildfowling clubs that provides access for the member to other areas in different parts of the country.
Supporting the British Farmer
We are keen participants in related public events, taking space to give publicity to our activities, particularly services to the farming community by way of crop protection and rabbit control.
